This week, Flightworks completed a new logo for Greg Dalton from Hope Without Borders. Hope Without Borders is a non-profit organization that seeks to let people know that there is Hope in every situation. There are no borders that will keep this wonderful message of Hope from reaching those that are in need, where ever they may be.
The key word the client wanted to emphasize was, "hope". One of the ideas that came to the forefront was to have the imagery of a cross embracing the word Hope. This was accomplished by creating a cross that felt like it was in motion as it embraced the "H" of the word Hope. Because of the unique shape of the cross, a custom typeface was used to help give the logo a fluid and coherent look.
In its first form, the descender of the "p" was longer and in a sense created a pseudo border between the two words in the second line. But because this is hope "without borders", it was intentionally shortened to push the idea of there being no borders the organization would not try to cross.
The finishing touch was the color choice. The classic color combination of brown and green brought out ideas of life, hope, and a fresh start; all things that Hope Without Borders will try to bring to people around the world.
